Tacoma Fruit Beer Fest takes place Aug. 26 from 2 to 9 p.m. at Tacoma Brewing Co., 1116 Court E. It is the third annual celebration of fruit and beer. This year, Tacoma Brewing is opening up the event to all Tacoma breweries. A food truck will also be on hand. Info: facebook.com/TacomaBrewing.

JBLM TourJBLM CENTENNIAL BUS TOUR
The public is invited Sept. 2 for a special bus tour around Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM). There will be four tours: 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. To celebrate one hundred years of history at JBLM, organizers have developed this tour to offer an overview of the the post. This tour will depart from the Lewis Army Museum and museum staff will be your guide on a 60 to 90-minute tour around JBLM, highlighting historical buildings around the post that were part of Camp Lewis and Fort Lewis. TLT GalaTLT 99TH SEASON OPENING GALA
Tacoma Little Theatre welcomes the community to join it at its special gala and silent auction celebrating its 99th season. This special fund raising event will be filled with fine wine, fine hors d’oeuvres and fine entertainment. The evening will begin with a social hour and then move into the auditorium where staff and board members will present a sneak peek of each of the seven shows in our 99th season. Throughout the course of the evening attendees will be bidding on silent auction items and enjoying musical entertainment from local performers. The gala and silent auction will take place on Sept. 9 from 6 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $35 per person and may be purchased at tacomalittletheatre.com, or by calling the box office at (253) 272-2281.

IkebanaIKEBANA
On Sept. 9, from 1 to 3 p.m., visitors can learn ikebana at the WW Seymour Botanical Conservatory. Megumi Schacher will share the history of ikebana. The basic rules and techniques of ikebana are the foundation for a lifetime of creative artistic expression that can be practiced by anyone, anywhere, using any plant materials. Students are encouraged to be individualistic and imaginative, while working within a framework that respects the relationships between space, line, depth, movement, color, form and balance. Ikebana creations are meant to enrich both the creator and the viewer. Schacher is a member of the Seattle branch of the Sogetsu School of Ikebana and a certified instructor. $3 suggested donation.
