TACOMA RUNNERS’ POLAR PLUNGE 2018

Join the Tacoma Runners at Dickmam Mill Park (2423 Ruston Way, Tacoma) Jan. 1 at 8 a.m. for a run and plunge. It’s time to bring in the New Year. The morning will begin with a 3-mile run along Ruston Way. Immediately after the run, go for a dip in the water then head to Paesan Kitchen for breakfast and drinks. There will be bloody mary and mimosa specials. The fine folks at Paesan will be working with Tacoma Runners to ensure that this is a morning to remember. HERMETIC FULL MOON CEREMONY AND RITUAL

At South Sound Healing Light Center (4130 Augusta Dr. NE, Tacoma) on Jan. 1, 7 p.m. all are invited to come together as a community each month to work with the energy of the full moon and to share an ancient ritual in the Hermetic Tradition. CELEBRATION OF MARIA LEVY’S LIFE

The much-loved Maria Levy was totally devoted to opera and to everybody involved with opera, whether they be singer, musician, patron, stagehand, usher or anybody else. She worked in opera for over forty years and had a positive impact on literally thousands of people from young aspiring opera singers to the greatest of the luminaries in the industry. Everyone adored her and those at Tacoma Opera are grateful to have had the opportunity to work with her. Members of the local music community will be celebrating Levy’s remarkable life with song, music, stories, recollections, prayer and above all the joy that she brought to everything she did and everyone she touched. The memorial celebration takes place at the Annie Wright School Chapel (827 Tacoma Ave. N.) on Jan. 7 at 3 p.m. Following is a reception in the Great Hall. ECSTATIC DANCE

What is Ecstatic Dance with Adam Dealan-de? It is a way to explore the rich inner world of the mind, brain and body, push the edge of our dance, and cultivate mindfulness and joy in ourselves and our community. The organizers celebrate and invite all bodies into ecstatic dance whether you’re a brand new or seasoned dancer. Dealan-de provides a safe dance space, allowing you to be vulnerable and real. He utilizes a mystic approach blended with scientific understanding to help you explore your authentic self. Come take a chance, move your body and feed your soul.
