EMPTY BOWLS

The Emergency Food Network hosts its annual ritual, enjoyed by more than 500 people each year, on Nov. 18 from 1-3:30 p.m. at Charles Wright Academy (7723 Chambers Creek Rd. W., Tacoma). Attendees can choose from more than 1,500 bowls to purchase for the home and for holiday gifts. After purchasing bowls, guests are served a bowl of soup (in a separate bowl) donated by local chefs. CRANKSGIVING

Join the third annual Cranksgiving ride through Hilltop to support the St. Leo Food Connection on Nov. 18 at 10:30 a.m. Roll-out from 2nd Cycle (1205 Martin Luther King Jr. Way) and pedal a mile to Hilltop Safeway for a chance to try your hand at family shopping by bicycle. Riders will be asked to purchase a few items that will be donated to St. Leo Food Connection. Bring along some way to haul your food items on your bike — backpack, basket, trailer, etc. After shopping, the group will pedal to the Food Connection to deliver their items and take a quick tour. Cash donations will also be accepted and are used to purchase fresh produce. You are welcome to shop before the ride and bring items along if that’s a better way to stretch your dollars. MOG & GROG 

Kick off the holiday shopping season at Museum of Glass on Small Business Saturday, Nov. 25, from 4-7 p.m., for a sip and shop event in support of local artists. In MOG’s Grand Hall, Tacoma artists will display and sell glass art, jewelry, letterpress prints, ceramics and more. Continue the festive shopping in the Museum Store, featuring works from artists throughout the state. Alegre Bakery & Gelato will help get you in the holiday spirit with tasty treats, hot cider, and specialty grog to enjoy during your visit. Enjoy free museum admission, classic holiday film screenings and hands on activities for all ages. All participating artists receive 100 percent of the proceeds. Info: museumofglass.org

MEEKER MANSION CRAFT SALE

The Meeker Mansion Small Business Saturday Craft Sale is Nov. 25, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. View the Meeker Mansion in all of its Christmas glory and purchase craft treasures from vendors located throughout the many rooms of the Mansion. Hot cider and cookies will be served. $6 admission for Mansion restoration fund. $1 discount if you donate a non-perishable food item (Puyallup Food Bank). Info: www.meekermansion.org

SEED TRADING

Come to Parkland/Spanaway Pierce County Library, 13718 Pacific Ave. S., Tacoma, Nov. 26 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. for Parkland Seed Traders’ fifth seed trade. Emphasis is on Thanksgiving but all seeds, clippings, bulbs and starts are welcome. Not required but helpful: please list what you will be bringing with picture if possible, and anything you hope to acquire. All types of seeds welcome (no controlled substances please.)
