Who We Are
Our philosophy is to cover local news and events tailored to the community we serve. While other newspapers often stretch out their coverage over a wide geographic area, we choose to focus on specific cities.
A locally owned and operated newspaper organization, has been the proud publisher of its flagship newspaper Tacoma Weekly for 20 years. Over the past two decades, Tacoma Weekly has developed a solid reputation as a reliable source of information for Tacoma.
Our emphasis is on events that impact the lives of our readers – action taken by local governments, how local high school sports teams are faring, what’s happening on local stages and where to go when readers have free time to enjoy.
A key to the success of the Tacoma Weekly is dedicated and hard working staff. Our reporters are also members of the community. They live in the greater Tacoma area and make a point to attend local events and be active citizens in the community.
As we grow, we look forward to becoming an even greater and more valuable resource for area residents. Other cities in Pierce County have the potential to support local newspapers, and we will keep this in mind as we make decisions on future expansion of our business.
With our nonpartisan position, we will continue to voice a concern toward finding real solutions to problems rather than simply taking sides and naming names. Rather than pose as the “local authority” on events, we will continue to trust our readers to make their own decisions, providing details to help them make informed decisions on issues that affect all of our lives.
