The Tacoma Stars have announced the return of Gig Harbor native Adam West on defense for the 2019-2020 MASL season. Per league and team policies, terms of the agreement were not released.
West appeared in nine matches for the Stars last season and picked up eight goals in that time. Between Dec. 22, 2018 and Jan. 2, 2019, West posted three straight games with two goals scored.
West began his professional soccer career in 2007 with the USL First Division Seattle Sounders. That same season he played 13 games with the Milwaukee Wave, then a member of the MISL. After five seasons of outdoor soccer, West ventured indoors again with the Tacoma Stars. During his first stint in Tacoma he notched 15 goals in 20 games.
West played outdoors in 2015 and 2016 with Louisville City and Arizona United before heading back to Tacoma last season. For his indoor career, West has played in 42 games and netted 23 goals.
Asked about the re-signing of West, Stars Head Coach Nick Perera said “Adam West is a very special player. He’s different in that he’s a physical, strong and athletic defender, and he’s an enormous threat going forward. The power and precision of his shooting is an incredible asset to the team, and I’m very happy he’s decided to come back for more Stars soccer!”
