The Stadium Tigers have once again punched themselves a ticket to the 3A girls soccer state tournament. After finishing the regular season a close second behind the Bonney Lake Panthers in the 3A Pierce County League, the Tigers earned a first-round in the 3A West Central District tournament. Having finished second in league standings, Stadium would find itself hosting a Mountain View on Tuesday, Oct. 30, at historic Stadium Bowl. The Thunder came into the match boasting an impressive 12-3-3 record from the 3A Greater St. Helens League.
From start to finish, the Tigers dominated their opponents. Senior Alexis Lamb (#6) got the night started with a scoring strike, and would be joined on the stat sheet by freshman Jaiden Wright (#22) before the end of the first half to give Stadium a 2-0 going into the locker rooms. The Stadium offense just kept ramping up the pressure throughout the first 40 minutes, while the defense turned away any, and all, Thunder scoring opportunities.
With their backs against the wall, Mountain View would try and put together a comeback in the second half, but it never really materialized. The Tigers not only controlled possession of the ball throughout the second half, but they rarely let the Thunder within a long kick of their own goal. Senior Monique Nagel (#13) would add an insurance goal late in the second half for the 3-0 Stadium victory. The Tigers (13-2-1) will play the undefeated Gig Harbor Tides (17-0) in the district semifinals on Thursday, Nov. 1.
