Marv Harshman Hall of Fame giveaway and sale items


On Aug. 3 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Redeemer Lutheran Fellowship Hall will host a memorabilia event featuring items for sale and to give away that belonged to Hall of Fame basketball coach Marv Harshman.

After moving to Washington as a child, Harshman enrolled at Pacific Lutheran University, where he lettered in four sports. He was drafted by the Chicago Cardinals of the NFL in the 15th round of the 1942 draft. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Harshman returned to PLU to coach basketball, football and baseball. He then went to Washington _State University in 1958, where he was the head basketball coach for 13 seasons. His next stop was the University of Washington, where he was head basketball coach from 1971 to 1985. He is in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame.
