The American Volleyball Coaches Association released the eighth regular season installment of its Division III Coaches’ Top 25 Poll on Tuesday, Oct. 23, with the Pacific Lutheran University volleyball ranking 17th. The Lutes (17-3, 10-2 Northwest Conference) inched up one spot from 18th to 17th, securing 563 points in the week eight poll and are the lone NWC institution to appear in the poll.
PLU’s rise in the poll comes after earning a pair of 3-0 victories last week. The Lutes steamrolled crosstown rival University of Puget Sound (25-16, 25-9, 25-18) on Wednesday, Oct. 17, to sweep the season series before taking down Willamette University (25-10, 25-16, 25-16) on Saturday, Oct. 20.
The Lutes return home on Friday, Oct. 26, to face Whitman College (8-12, 4-8) at 7 p.m. Pacific Lutheran will then host Whitworth (17-6, 11-1) on Saturday, Oct. 27, with the NWC championship up for grabs at 7 p.m. The Pirates swept the Lutes in their previous meeting on Saturday, Sept. 29.
