Catch Tacoma’s own Funny Face House as they wind down a West Coast tour in support of their new “Kidney Thief” album. They are playing at The Safe House (1724 Fawcett Ave.) April 3 starting at 6 p.m. Also playing are The Fawcetts, Stranger Than Fact, Scorn Dog and Flying Fish Cove. Dented but proud, Funny Face House proves cruisin’ on empty is still the best way to get high on the fumes of inspiration. Previous iterations of the band have featured Daniel Cohn on drums, Mallery Petty on bass and Adam Szyndrowski on guitar and vocals. “Kidney Thief,” released March 23, features Sean Colvin and Szyndrowski. Funny Face House bills itself as a three-piece emotional, wobbly, punk band crafting songs reminiscent of The Unicorns, BJM and underground 90s grunge. “Is Real,” the group’s first album, was recorded to four-track in a living room of the house shared by Szyndrowski and Petty. It captured the band’s casual, do-it-yourself spirit with gritty immediacy. Unabashedly tone deaf, “Is Real” exhibited the exuberance of creation over the rigors of musicianship – while still managing to dish out plenty of tasty hooks. For information visit
