Join the Gritty City Sirens on Dec. 16 beginning at 5 p.m. as they spread holiday cheer at some of Tacoma’s best hangouts. Stops include: The Eleven Eleven, 6:15-7:15 p.m., Peaks and Pints, 7:30-8:30 p.m., and Doyle’s Public House, 8:45-9:45 p.m. The last stop and after party will be at The Zodiac Supper Club (10 p.m. to midnight). Visit the Pierce College Science Dome in December for one of its all-ages planetarium programs. Each show consists of a half-hour live astronomy presentation followed by a half-hour full-dome video. The live presentations vary by presenter and you’ll get a different experience every time you visit. Shows are every Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 3:15 p.m. Cost is $6 for general admission (ages 3 and older). Pierce College students get in free with ID. At 7 p.m. Dec. 23, the First Spiritualist Church of Puyallup (341 2nd St. SE, Puyallup) will host a prayer drum circle. Bring your own drum or rattle or borrow one. On Dec. 23 at 7 p.m., come to Norden Lodge #2 – Sons of Norway (1106 S. 15th St., Tacoma) and celebrate Christmas with the classic Scandinavian music of Skandia Kapell. Review or learn hambo, the classic Swedish couple dance. Dances during the rest of the evening include waltz, schottische, polka, and others. Circle and mixer dances reviewed. $10 adults, $7 Sons of Norway members ($10 couples), $5 non-dancers, students free. Bring your dance partner and friends for a good time. On Dec. 24, Metro Parks Tacoma hosts its annual Jingle Bell Run at Wright Park, 501 S. I St., Tacoma. This race will feature hundreds of jingling bells that will definitely put you in the holiday spirit. This is a three-mile run/walk at Wright Park with race times of 10 a.m. and noon. Wear your best holiday-themed costume. Each race will have its own contest 30 minutes prior to the race start.
