Sam John Richardson died Sept. 13, 2019 at 4:50 a.m. at his home in Frederickson, Wash., surrounded by his wife, son, daughter and son-in-law. Our father died after a battle with prostate cancer. He was born in New Orleans, La., on April 11, 1942 to Silas and Thelma (Thomas) Richardson. He joined the military in 1963 and came back to Fort Lewis, Wash. in 1981 where he retired in 1983 until the time of his death. Sam had been stationed in Germany where he met his first wife and had 4 children with her. He did a combat tour in Vietnam from 1967-68 where he was injured and earned a Purple Heart. After his divorce from his first wife, he married 5 more times until he got it right with his last wife. He is survived by his wife Cindy Richardson, his son Sam J. Richardson, Jr., and daughters Michaele Crumpton, Andrea T. Morgan, and Elizabeth Richardson. Anyone who knew Sam knew that his greatest passion in life was singing. His pleasures in life were singing karaoke, coffee, cars, and good people. Our dear father and grandfather will be missed and remembered by many. He is forever memorialized on YouTube doing his favorite thing singing: daddyrichsam.weebly.com.
