Proctor Arts Fest Committee invites all artists to submit an original artwork to the 2019 Proctor Arts Fest Poster contest. All media are accepted, except computer-generated art. Entries must be submitted by April 15. The winning artist will receive a $500 award.

The theme of the artwork should reflect the spirit of a summer art festival, as the Proctor Arts Fest happens on Saturday, Aug. 3from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.The winning entry may be reproduced on posters, T-shirts and other marketing pieces to promote the fest. Do not include lettering on your art unless it is integral to your design, and do not feature any particular Proctor business. Printed information concerning the arts fest will be added to the poster by a graphic designer. Judging will be by a committee of artists and Proctor business people.

Acceptance of this award will grant the Proctor Arts Fest Committee the right to reproduce the art solely for the purpose of promoting and financing the Art Fest in 2019. The original art will remain the property of the artist. The winning artist must also agree to display his or her design during the week prior to and including the day of the Arts Fest. The work will be displayed prominently in a Proctor business. The artist may offer his or her work for sale while on display. Previous Proctor Arts Fest poster contest winners may not apply, and only one entry per artist, please.

If accepted, art must be provided in a high-resolution format for reproduction purposes. If you cannot provide this yourself, special arrangements can be made for artwork to be photographed.

Entry will be via online submission only in .jpg or .pdf formats only. To enter, visit the Proctor Arts Fest website at ProctorArtsFest.com, click on “Events” then click on “Poster Contest.”

ART UNDER THE SUMMER SUN

Proctor Arts Fest is a community-based street fair that takes place each summer on North 26th and Proctor Streets. It has been organized by the Proctor Business District Association, along with community volunteers, for more than 18 years. The goal of Proctor Arts Fest is to provide a free, accessible and celebratory experience of the arts for the public.

Proctor Arts Fest attracts approximately 10,000 visitors from Tacoma, Pierce and Thurston Counties and 160 art and crafts vendors every year. In addition to the vendors, it features a juried art show of about 85 art pieces by 60 artists, three stages of live music and entertainment (this includes one stage that is designated “The Family Stage” – organized by personnel of the Tacoma Public Library), a kids area with participation by the Metropolitan Park District, a farmers market and a merchant sidewalk sale.

Come and enjoy live music and local entertainment, purchase original artwork or a craft piece from its maker, browse through the juried art show and let the children create their own original “art.” Proctor Arts Fest provides a great way to get to know your neighbors and practice building your community. Proctor Arts Fest is a family friendly event.
