Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies are asking for the public’s help to find a convicted sex offender with a history of targeting kids. 64-year-old Joseph Johnson is wanted for Failure to Register as a Level III Sex Offender. “He’s got convictions in both state court and federal court. He’s very versed in the criminal justice system and he knows we’re looking for him,” said Pierce County Sheriff’s Det. Ed Troyer.

According to official documents, Johnson offered to give a 12-year-old girl a ride to the store and then drove her to a secluded area and sexually assaulted her.  He has also been convicted of Child Molestation and Attempted Rape of a 5-year-old victim in 1982 and for molesting at 10-year-old in 1985. In 1988, he  was convicted of Aggravated Sexual Abuse of a 9 year old victim.

Lakewood Police tried to locate him on March 24th and were told by staff at the apartment complex that he had moved out in the beginning of February. He’s failed to register in Lakewood and now Pierce County so if anybody knows where he’s at, we want a phone call. We want to hold him accountable, find out where he’s at and who he’s been around,” said Det. Troyer.

Johnson is 5’4”, 160 lbs. with graying black hair and brown eyes. Crime Stoppers of Tacoma-Pierce County is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for any information that leads to his arrest. Call 1-800-222-TIPS or use the P3 Tips App on your smart phone. It is anonymous. This is one of the cases being featured on Washington’s Most  Wanted Friday at 11 pm on Q13 Fox and Saturday at 9:30 pm on JOEtv and 10:30 on Q13 Fox.
