Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies in the Pro-Act Property Crime Unit need your help to identify a home burglar in the Puyallup area. At 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 12, the suspect rode up to the house on 78th Avenue East on a yellow bike, entered through a garage side door, then ransacked a bedroom.
“In this particular case, he got about $800 in money and things he could stuff in his pockets and then he fled the residence. What sticks out is he’s got pretty bright hair, distinctive looking enough that somebody’s going to recognize him. He is also wearing bright orange burglary gloves to try and cover up fingerprints. I mean, anybody who knows somebody that has these items, there’s probably not two of them running around doing burglaries, so we’d like to hear from them.” said Pierce County Det. Ed Troyer.
The suspect appears to be a white man in his 20’s, medium height/weight, with bleached blonde hair. He was wearing a gray and black jacket, dark pants and carrying a dark colored backpack.
“We’re finding more and more people that are transient, that are living on bicycles, that are using bicycles and moving around without vehicles to commit burglaries. They’re not the big, grandiose burglaries where they come clean the house out but they’ll take your personal items, they’ll take your money and things they can carry, so this is the type of criminal that’s going to keep doing it and getting away with it until they get caught.
If you can identify the suspect, please call Crime Stoppers of Tacoma-Pierce County at 1 (800) 222-TIPS (8477). It is anonymous and there is a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to the suspect’s arrest.
