City of Tacoma facilities temporarily close to the public

The City of Tacoma is working closely with local, state, and national health officials to slow the spread of the coronavirus. Beginning at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, City facilities including the administrative offices at the Tacoma Municipal Building complex (747 Market St. and 733 Market St.) will be closed to the public until further notice. See below for a list of resources available via phone, email and online.

Beginning March 16, 2020, through April 24, 2020, all jury trials will be suspended and rescheduled to a later date for Tacoma Municipal Court (930 Tacoma Ave. S.). Updates can be found on the court websites, and on Pierce County and the City’s official social media channels.

Tacoma Public Utilities (3628 S. 35th St.) will be closing their lobby to the public starting Wednesday, March 18, 2020, until further notice.

Tacoma Public Libraries are currently closed to the public until further notice.

Essential City services, including emergency services and Solid Waste collection services, will remain operational. Currently, the Tacoma Recovery and Transfer Center (3510 S. Mullen St.) is open under regular operating hours from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., seven days a week. The Solid Waste front office lobby is currently closed for walk-ins.

The City’s Parking Services is temporarily changing the on-street parking system by suspending pay station operations in downtown Tacoma. Starting the week of March 16, on-street parking will not require the purchase of a pay receipt. This temporary suspension will take place until further notice. During this time, parking enforcement actions will be limited to life safety violations throughout the city.
