24 new Pierce County COVID-19 cases


Today, May 5, the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department confirmed 24 new cases in Pierce County. The department learned that several previously reported cases were duplicates or assigned to another county. The county total is 1,552 cases.

The department is reporting the two new deaths below. The Pierce County total is 54 deaths.

  • Tacoma woman in her 80s with underlying health conditions.
  • Edgewood/Fife/Milton area man in his 70s with underlying health conditions.

The department added information about the number of positive cases at Pierce County care facilities, and has improved its map so you can see cases in your neighborhood (by census tract). Check it out on the Pierce County cases page.

The department continues to work with the state Department of Health to report test result numbers, and will report reliable data once it is available.
