The 11th annual Gray Sky Blues Music Festival, on April 7, is located at The Swiss Restaurant and The Harmon Brewery and Eatery, the “official beer sponsor,” following the Tacoma Grand Floral Daffodil Parade. This all-ages event, produced by the Tacoma Events Commission and sponsored by the South Sound Blues Association, features a lineup of prominent blues acts throughout the day, from 12:30-11:30 p.m. The headlining bands are Howlin’ Dogma and United by Music North America.

Bands performing at The Harmon include Little Bill and the Bluenotes, Jim King and the Southsiders and United by Music North America, until 6 p.m. In addition, The Harmon will be hosting a Rod and Custom Car Show that runs 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.  At The Swiss, the festival presents Suite Clarity, followed by blues journeyman Tim Hall and his band. Northwest favorite Maia Santell and House Blend with Jay Mabin perform at 5 p.m., followed by young soloist Miranda Kitchpanich and the headliner, Howlin’ Dogma. The Gray Sky All-Star Jam Band with Brian Lee, Tom Boyle, Sheryl Clark, Scott Simmons and Billy Barner performs from 9:30-11:30 p.m.

The headliner for the Swiss Stage is Howlin’ Dogma from Eugene, Ore. Howlin’ Dogma is a blues infused rock band, mixed with a dash of boogie and swamp blues. They are past winners of the American Marijuana Music Awards and the Global Marijuana Music Awards for Best Blues Song of the Year for their song, “Toke of Rhythm.” United by Music North America is the Harmon Stage headliner. Known for their high-energy, uplifting music, they received the 2016 Muddy Award for Best Event for the Delta Music Experience Blues Brunch series at the Waterfront Blues Festival, presented by artistic director and co-founder, Amanda Gresham. United by Music North America was selected by national Special Olympics Organizing Committee to perform during the 2018 USA Games, including the torch lighting at opening ceremonies in UW Husky Stadium.
