Diamond Green, one of Tacoma’s most popular recreational and medical cannabis shops, led an effort to help make Thanksgiving brighter this year for those in need in the local community. On the day before Thanksgiving, Nov. 22, owner Malkit Singh and members of his crew delivered pumpkin pies, fresh turkeys and stuffing to the Tacoma Rescue Mission.
“I just want to give back to the community, and to show that we care,” Singh said, noting that he has additional ways in mind on how to show love to the people of Tacoma as his business continues to grow from having been open since 2014.
Stacy Cleveland, Tacoma Rescue Mission’s Senior Manager of Outcomes Strategies, was there to receive the donations that day. She said that with the bulk of donations coming from people out in the community, everything counts and is deeply appreciated by Rescue Mission staff and those who seek the mission’s services.
“We really appreciate their support,” she said of Diamond Green. “We hadn’t received any pumpkin pies yet this year,” so she was particularly glad to see them among Diamond Green’s donations. “We don’t do it alone. Without your help and the help of the community, I don’t know what we would do.”
With Christmas just around the corner, Tacoma Rescue Mission is gratefully accepting donations at this time especially. The Mission is located at 425 S. Tacoma Way (just a short drive from downtown Tacoma) and donations are accepted Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
