The Story of the Seventy48 Race

January 11 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Free

Come on out for the January meeting of South Sound Surfrider and join us in welcoming Dean Burke, Executive Director of the Tacoma-Pierce County Sports Commission. Dean will be presenting on an exciting new paddle race, set for June of 2018. The ‘Seventy48’ will be open to all human-powered craft and will begin in Tacoma and end in Port Townsend, just before next year’s Race to Alaska (R2AK) begins. Dean will also be speaking about efforts to get single-use plastic away from the marine environment along Tacoma‘s waterfront, a project that complements Surfrider’s Ocean Friendly Restaurants program.

The presentation is free and open to all ages. January 11, 6:30 PM at Tacoma Cabana, 728 Pacific Ave, in downtown Tacoma.
