Tacoma Ocean Fest

June 10 @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm

Free

Tacoma Ocean Fest is a free public festival on Tacoma’s waterfront at the Foss Waterway Seaport running 11am-4pm on June 10, 2018. It will bring arts, sciences and water play together to celebrate our ocean, tell about its threats and inspire us all to protect it. A secondary goal is to create community through ocean stories, and generate empathy for ocean life. Inside the Foss will be an eco-installation by Barbara de Pirro, photographic exhibits by underwater filmmaker Annie Crawley and shark photographer and advocate Mike Coots, as well as dance, music, film, poetry and aerial circus. Groups include TUPAC West African dance and Samoan dance, Tacoma City Ballet, Fab-5, singers Kim Archer and Erin Calata, and Scuba Virtual Reality. Outside the Foss will be booths filled with local environmental partners such as university science departments, non-profits, government agencies and other groups that work to protect the ocean. On the lower dock will be demos and tryouts for paddleboarding, kayaking, SUP yoga and more. There will also be food trucks.
