Solo Performance Workshop

October 7 @ 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm

This workshop is for anyone who stands alone in front of an “audience” and wants to or must tell a story, present an idea, give a speech, act a play, or convey a message.
Your “audience” might be in a theater, a classroom, a work space or a conference room. You might be presenting to patrons, students, children, co-workers, employees, or managers. You may an actor, dancer, circus artist, musician, or storyteller. This workshop is for ANYONE that needs to stand alone in front of an audience and create whatever is you need to convey!
You are a Solo Performer!
The only requirement is that you bring an IDEA. It can be a prop, a movement, a lesson plan, a speech, a poem, a word, a thought etc.
Michelle Matlock will lead the group through a creative process that she has used to develop her solo work for the past 20 years.
This process includes theater games, acting exercises, movement, exploration, improv, and discussions that provoke, communication skill building, material development, character building, motivation, playing, storytelling, stage presence, confidence, writing and of course just getting on your feet and starting.
It all starts with what motivates you!
Creating original work and any form of solo performance is a personal journey that requires a safe and open space with constructive feedback. This workshop is exactly that and much more.
Your experience will be tailored to your individual needs.
Michelle will lead 1 three-hour workshop per week for 9 weeks. During the final week each full workshop participant will present up to 10 minutes of new material at a Work In Progress Showcase (free invite only, family and friends).
Each participant will get a digital video of their own performance.

Workshop starts Monday, Oct. 7, 6:30-9:30 p.m. and continues once a week, every Monday, ending on Dec. 2.

You can attend all 9 classes and participate in the showcase OR you can drop into individual workshops as often as you want (minimum attendance of 7 workshops to be in the showcase).
