Improve the health of Tacoma’s open spaces
April 14 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
EarthCorps and the City of Tacoma invite community members to celebrate Earth Day by volunteering at an open space restoration event this April!
Healthy and thriving urban forests and natural areas provide the Tacoma community abundant benefits! They filter our air, offset carbon emission, absorb rainwater, prevent pollution from entering Puget Sound, and provide a home for native birds and animals.
Join EarthCorps and the City of Tacoma at a restoration event in April:
• Saturday, April 14 at Julia’s Gulch, 9:00am – 1:00pm
• Saturday, April 14 at Wapato Hills Park, 9:00am – 1:00pm
• Saturday, April 28 at Fern Hill, 10:00am – 1:00pm
Typical work at these events include removing invasive plants like English ivy and Himalayan blackberry, and replacing them with native plants that will provide long term benefits. EarthCorps staff and volunteer leaders teach volunteers everything they need to know taking care of our natural areas, including tool safety, forest health, and the importance of the specific tasks they will be doing.
