Historic Preservation seeks award nominations


The Tacoma Landmarks Preservation Commission is seeking nominations for the 2018 Historic Preservation Awards, celebrating the best in preservation projects and programming. Nominations are being accepted now through the Historic Preservation Awards Nominations form until Tuesday, April 10.

The categories include Residential Renovation, Commercial Renovation, Leadership in Preservation, Organization(s) in Preservation, Community Engagement/Events, Landmark Nomination, Preservation Planning, Policy, or Initiative, and Heritage/Legacy Businesses.

The awards ceremony and reception will be held on Friday, May 18, from 6 – 8 p.m. at Stewart Middle School (5010 Pacific Ave. in Tacoma). The keynote will feature the renovation of Stewart Middle School, a historic rehabilitation project. Tacoma Public Schools Facilities staff, as well as Stewart students, will provide a tour of the new school. The event is free and open to the public with refreshments provided.
