Tideflats Interim Regulations Public Hearing set for Sept. 13


The City of Tacoma’s Planning Commission is seeking public comment on proposed Tideflats Interim Regulations, before making a recommendation to City Council. A public hearing will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 13, at 6 p.m. at the Greater Tacoma Convention Center (1500 Commerce St.). Written comments are being accepted until 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 15.

In addition, the Planning and Development Services Department is holding an informational meeting for the proposed Tideflats Interim Regulations on Wednesday, Sept. 6, at 5 p.m. in the Tacoma Municipal Building Council Chambers (747 Market St., 1st Floor). This meeting will go over the scope of these proposed interim regulations.

The intent of the proposed interim regulations is to limit the establishment of certain new industrial uses, limit potential residential encroachment on industrial uses within the Port of Tacoma and Tideflats area, and prevent the conversion of industrial properties to non-industrial uses, until such time as the Tideflats Subarea Plan is completed.
