Tacoma Mall has announced its partnership with Communities In Schools on the organization’s annual Stuff the Bus campaign, that provides backpacks and school supplies to nearly 5,000 Pierce County kids in need.
A Communities In Schools alumni took the lead of this year’s campaign and secured more than 40 community partners, as well as nearly 50 pick-up locations, including Tacoma Mall. Tacoma Mall shoppers, diners and visitor are encouraged to donate to this year’s Stuff the Bus campaign by dropping off school supplies and backpacks, between now and Thursday, Aug. 16, to the Guest Services information booth.
“Tacoma Mall is a community hub and we are thrilled to partner with Communities In Schools on this important initiative,” said Rachel Stewart, Director of Marketing and Business Development at Tacoma Mall. “Making sure our local students have what they need for a successful school year is important and we know our Tacoma Mall shoppers and diners will do what they can to contribute.”
As students return to school in the coming weeks, Tacoma Mall and Communities In Schools wants them to be excited about school and to not have to worry about having all of the recources needed for success. Many local Pierce County students are living below the poverty level, and are without basic needs, let alone the required supplies requested for the upcoming school year.
