Facility closures at city operated parks


Following Governor Inslee’s emergency “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” order and to help minimize the spread of COVID-19, the City of Tacoma’s Public Works Department is closing gathering spaces, structures and parking lots at the following City operated parks starting Thursday, March 26, until further notice. 

Signage will be posted in the affected areas. Natural areas and park open space areas will remain open to the public.

  • Gateway Park (North 30th Street): Picnic tables closed
  • McCormick Park (930 Fawcett Avenue): Gathering space closed and gates to the park closed. Sidewalk will remain open.
  • Sawyer Tot Lot (7402 South Cedar Street): Play equipment is closed
  • South Grant Avenue and South 23rd Street: Picnic table closed
  • Viewpoint Park (85 Norpoint Way Northeast): Parking lot and picnic area closed
  • War Memorial Park (629 North Jackson Avenue): Picnic tables and shelter area closed
