The Planning Commission will conduct a public hearing on the six-year Capital Facilities Program for 2019-2024, which will update the existing 2017-2022 program with new projects proposed for funding within the next six years.
The public hearing will take place on Wednesday, June 20, at 5:30 p.m., in the Tacoma Municipal Building Council Chambers (747 Market St., 1st Floor). An hour prior to the public hearing, beginning at 4:30 p.m., in the same location, staff will also conduct an informational session to provide an opportunity for citizens to learn more about the proposed amendments and be prepared for the public hearing.
As an element of the One Tacoma: Comprehensive Plan, the Capital Facilities Program provides a bridge between the city’s long-term plan and the budget process but does not set aside funds. Proposed new projects for the 2019-2024 timeframe vary in sizes, are located citywide, and fall into the following categories: community development, cultural facilities, general government municipal facilities, libraries, local improvement districts, parks and open space, public safety, solid waste, surface water, wastewater, transportation, Tacoma Power, Tacoma Rail and Tacoma Water.
In addition to comments received at the public hearing, written comments are being accepted until 5 p.m. on Friday, June 29. Comments may be submitted to: Planning Commission, 747 Market Street, Room 345, Tacoma, WA 98402, or via email to email@example.com.
