City launches site to track capital improvement projects

The City of Tacoma has launched a new Capital Improvement Project Tracking site located at to further coordinate details around a number of active projects around the city.

The site serves two purposes. First, it helps the city and local utilities coordinate roadwork to help reduce roadway excavation and minimize traffic disruptions as well as inform the community about upcoming roadway improvement projects that may impact travel.

Capital projects include adding or improving motorized and non-motorized transportation infrastructure and other key projects. The map shows when and where planned and active projects will occur in the right-of-way, with a brief description and the responsible party with contact information. In addition, the map can be narrowed down to show a specific type of project that includes street, wastewater, power projects and many others.

The City’s Public Works Department, utilities and other operators are responsible for updating their capital improvement project information on a quarterly basis.
