Tacoma Police officers were dispatched to the area of 5100 South Oakes Street at approximately 1:15 a.m. on Jan. 27. The police responded to the report of shots being fired and a person reportedly hit.
On arrival, police discovered an injured 15-year-old male. Officers administered CPR but were not able to resuscitate the victim. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. The medical examiner took custody of the victim and will release his identity when appropriate.
The shooting occurred outside, and the scene was processed by Forensics. Tacoma Police detectives responded and are conducting a homicide investigation. The investigation is an open and active case.
There is no suspect information at this time. Witnesses are being contacted and interviewed.
