Crime Stoppers of Tacoma-Pierce County is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information identifying two suspects driving a stolen jeep and a third who stole a gun.
At 1 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 28, an unidentified black man in his 20’s – medium build, unshaven, camouflage pants, red/black/white jacket, olive green cap – and an unidentified white woman in her 20’s – medium build, long dark brown hair, blue jeans, burgundy leather coat, white T-shirt – parked a red Jeep Wrangler in the middle of the Chevron gas station parking lot located at 72nd Street East and McKinley Avenue East in Tacoma. The woman removed several bags from the vehicle then both suspects walked away heading south on East McKinley Avenue. An observant employee saw the vehicle parked in an unusual location and noticed its license plates had been removed. When he approached the vehicle, he saw a handgun on the passenger seat and called 911.
When the employee walked away from the Jeep to watch for the responding officers, an unidentified woman who appears to be in her 20’s with a petite build, bleached blonde hair, pink shirt, blue jeans and pink sandals walked up to the Jeep, took the handgun off the seat and walked off.
“This is pretty unusual that you have thieves stealing from thieves and they don’t even know it, but you know, at this particular point you have a stolen car, probably stolen property in the vehicle that they take out originally and then a gun taken by a third subject, so we would like to unravel this and take a lot of criminals off the street all at once,” said Pierce County Det. Ed Troyer.
Deputies were able to determine that the Jeep had been stolen 10 days earlier from outside the Top of Tacoma Bar & Cafe on McKinley Avenue in the City of Tacoma.
If you know who these three suspects or have any information that can help deputies find any of them, please call Crime Stoppers of Tacoma-Pierce County at 1 (800) 222-TIPS (8477).
