The Monkeyshines Project seeks contributions for beloved community project

Monkeyshines began in 2003 when a group of anonymous artists in Tacoma banded together to produce 200 glass balls and medallions emblazoned with the Year of the Monkey stamp. On Chinese New Year 2004, those pieces of artwork were hidden throughout the city to encourage our community members to get out and explore. The artists have been creating glass gifts for 15 years now, and this year, the Year of the Dog, marks the third year of the 12-year Chinese New Year calendar.

Let’s keep Monkeyshines going! With your help, the artists would like to fill Tacoma with glass gifts and be able to hire local artists to produce more than 1,000 pieces of glass. For every donation of $100 or more, Monkeyshines will thank you with an exclusive 2018 Year of the Dog candle cup (pictured). The cups are available now for pick-up at Creative Forces in the Hotel Murano Tacoma.

Or, you can donate at any level. Any amount helps these artists create more gifts for the community. Let’s help make this amazing community event happen in 2018.
