Tacoma Nature Center invites one and all to help care for the park by removing invasive plant species, re-planting areas with native plants and helping those plants thrive, Feb. 7 and Feb. 21, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. All ages are welcome, and children must be accompanied by adults. No experience necessary. Come dressed for the weather and prepared to get dirty. Work parties occur rain or shine. Tacoma Nature Center is located at 1919 S. Tyler St., Tacoma.
More family fun is planned for Feb. 8, with a family snowshoeing outing, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bundle up the kids for a day of playing in the snow and an introduction to snowshoeing. Dress for cold weather, wear sturdy boots, bring water and a sack lunch. Transportation and snowshoes provided. Adults must accompany children, recommended for ages 7 and up. Cost is $35 per person and $31.50 for Tacoma Nature Center Members. Meet at People’s Community Center, 1602 Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Tacoma.
Need more snow time? Family snow play day is on Feb. 22, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Best for ages 5 and up. Have fun sledding, snowshoeing or just playing while making new friends in the mountains. Bring your own snow toys or snowshoes. Transportation provided to and from the sledding hill. Cost is $50 per family of four, $45 for Tacoma Nature Center member family of four. Meet at STAR Center, 3873 S. 66th St., Tacoma.
