On Aug. 17, Spaceworks Tacoma will host its fourth annual benefit event, NEON. This year, Spaceworks will bring to life Normanna Hall at Sons of Norway in Tacoma’s Hilltop neighborhood. Guests at this all ages event can enjoy neon art installations by Galen Turner, a 90’s music video lounge, carnival games with prizes, a pop-up shop highlighting Spaceworks Incubator alumni, live performances by SMAC, Iconic Dance, BAJA BOY, Grit City Performers, and Glenn&DJ, and a DJ dance party with DJ Semaj to top off the night.
NEON is Spaceworks’ annual fundraiser and the end-of-summer art party celebration for Tacoma’s creative community. According to Spaceworks Program Director Michael Liang, “NEON is a celebration, a chance for the creative community to come together and affirm that Tacoma is a fabulous place to live, start a business, and make art.”
Tickets are available through the event website at www.spaceworkstacoma.com/neon, $30 for general admission ($35 at door), $50 for VIP (includes screen printed T-shirt and NEON glow surprise), $15 for students and free for kids under 12. Those who wish to skip the first half of the night can buy just the dance party ticket for $15 to enjoy the lively DJ dance party from 10 p.m. to midnight.
