Broadway Center presents “A Charlies Brown Christmas” live at Tacoma’s historic Pantages Theater on Thurs., Nov. 30 at 7:30 p.m.

A Charlie Brown Christmas, the Emmy and Peabody award-winning story by Charles M. Schulz, has warmed the hearts of millions of fans since it first aired on television over fifty years ago. Now the classic animated television special comes to life in this national tour stage adaptation featuring favorite Peanuts characters and the classic Vince Guaraldi score.

Tickets for A Charlie Brown Christmas LIVE start at $19 and are on sale now. To buy now, call the Broadway Center Box Office at (253) 591-5894, toll-free 1 (800) 291-7593, online at BroadwayCenter.org, or in person at 901 Broadway in Tacoma’s Theater District.

This show is a theatrical performance of the 1965 animated television special based on the comic strip “Peanuts,” by Charles M. Schulz, produced by Lee Mendelson and directed by Bill Melendez – the viewing of which is now a holiday must in many households. It would not seem like Christmas without Snoopy’s extravagant decorating of his dog house, Linus’s quoting of the nativity scene from the Gospel According to Luke, or Charlie Brown’s choice of least of all the Christmas trees on the lot.

In 2013 Tams-Witmark Music Library, Inc. began licensing an official stage version of the television special authorized by the Schulz family and Lee Mendelson. The stage version follows the television special but includes an optional sing-along section of Christmas songs at the end. It includes all of Vince Guaraldi’s music from the television special and the television script is adapted for the stage by Eric Schaeffer. It has been performed at hundreds of schools, churches and community theatres.
