Opportunities to buy from local artists this holiday season


Are you looking for a way to make your gift-buying dollars fuel the local economy? You can support local makers, craftsmen and artists by doing some of your gift shopping at one to the arts and crafts markets that are scheduled to open around town over the next couple of weeks.

MOG & Grog

Sunday, Dec. 2, 12-5 p.m.

Museum of Glass, 1801 Dock St., Tacoma

Kick off the holiday shopping season at Museum of Glass at a makers market in support of local artists. MOG & Grog will put artists center stage in the Grand Hall to display and sell glass, jewelry, letterpress, ceramics and more. Continue your holiday shopping in the Museum Store, featuring works from artists throughout the state, and across the globe. To get you in the holiday spirit, tasty treats and holiday libations will be available for purchase. Enjoy $5 museum admission, classic holiday film screenings, and hands-on activities for all ages, in addition to MOG’s dynamic exhibitions and live glassblowing demonstrations. All participating artists retain 100 percent of their proceeds.

Tacoma Artists Collective Christmas Market

Sunday, Dec. 2, 4-11 p.m.

2515 6th Ave., Tacoma

The TAC Christmas Market is a holiday themed outdoor market with local vendors and artists selling handcrafted goods and art. There will also be hot cocoa, tea and pastries for sale.

Winter Artisan Bazaar

Holiday Bazaar on Old Chaser Farm

Saturday, Dec. 8 and Sunday, Dec. 9, 11 a.m.

Christmas Craft Fair
