Lakewood’s Summerfest and International Fest ready for July 14

The City of Lakewood’s Summerfest includes an International Festival which celebrates the diverse populations that call Lakewood home. Enjoy the City of Lakewood’s all new Summerfest Saturday, July 14. It is a free outdoor festival for the whole family. Extreme entertainment with fire dancers, stilt walkers, trapeze and extreme trampoline acts, await. Participate in hands-on art activities, multi-sporting events, yoga, a car show and a Kids’ Zone with inflatables and pony rides. Shop at more than 150 unique market vendors. Sample amazing food from more than 30 food trucks while listening to live music all day long. Delve into the diversity of the Lakewood community at the International Festival stage. Get your free “Passport” stamped at more than 25 high quality multi-sporting activities, and hands-on art stations. Stay for the evening fire dancing show, pet parade and dog contests and an outdoor movie. There is truly something for everyone. Summerfest takes place at Fort Steilacoom Park, a magnificent 340-acre park that features one of the state’s biggest dog parks with an obstacle course, expansive biking trails, and running trails for the Summerfest Sprint Triathlon.

Among the food choices are such delights as Hawaiian chicken, pork, noodles, Philly cheesesteaks, pulled pork sandwiches, brats, curly fries, corn dogs, wood-fired pizza, garlic bread, tacos, tamales and taquitos. Wash your food down with flavored water, soda pop, espresso, chai tea, Italian soda or blended coffee drinks. For dessert, there is frozen yogurt, ice cream, elephant ears and funnel cakes. Nearly 40 food trucks are lined up to serve this mouthwatering deliciousness at Summerfest.

Come join the festivities including some amazing fun for all. Make sure you stop by the 2-2 Stryker Brigade Combat Team’s booth to say hello and stick around to listen to the Army Reserve Rock Band at 6 p.m. on the main stage.

Also, there is 5K, 10K, one-mile run and triathlon. Entertainment includes a trapeze act, live music, car show, X-Treme Trampoline, Stilt Walkers, kid zone, and a pet parade. The annual International Festival is also a regular feature of Summerfest.

In the evening, grab your blankets and come see “Coco” playing outdoors at 9 p.m., presented by America’s Credit Union. The food trucks are open until 8 p.m., so have a dinner picnic and listen to live music beforehand. 

Summerfest runs from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. at Fort Steilacoom Park, 8714 87th Ave. SW, Lakewood.
