Godzilla passed the test of time

Blue Oyster Cult, still going strong after 47 years, blew through the Emerald Queen Casino Saturday, March 11. Over the years, BOC have been interpreted and categorized as hard rock, heavy metal, psychedelic and progressive rock, but after the span of almost five decades, Donald “Buck Dharma” Roeser and Eric Bloom, survivors of the test of time, can be best described as “classic.” With 13 studio albums, five live albums and countless compilation albums, they don’t have a problem coming up with a varied set list to keep their Northwest Blue Oyster Cult fan club interested and happy.

Founding members Roeser and Bloom are still able to deliver the soft ballad melodies and hard driving rock. They are joined by a supporting cast of A-list band members including Jules Radino on drums, Richie Castellano on keyboard and guitar and Danny Miranda on bass. A band with this rock history literally did not miss a beat. The band put together a set list comprised of songs from their debut album “Blue Oyster Cult,” and from following albums “Spectres,” “Fire of Unknown Origin,” “The Metal Years,” “Heaven Forbid,” “Mirrors,” “Agents of Fortune” and “On Your Feet and Knees.”
