“Polkadots: The Cool Kids Musical” follows 8-year-old Lily Polkadot who just moved to the “Squares Only” small town of Rockaway. As the first Polkadot in an all-Square school, Lily faces an almost impossible task of gaining acceptance from her peers. From daily bullying to segregated drinking fountains, Lily’s quest seems hopeless until she meets Sky, a shy Square boy whose curiosity for her unique polka dot skin blooms into an unexpected pal-ship. Inspired by the events of the Little Rock nine, “Polkadots” serves as a colorful history lesson for children, reminding them that our individual differences make us awesome, not outcasts.

Lakewood Playhouse Fun-Raiser and
Season Reveal Preview Party
Sunday, Feb. 10, 6 p.m.
Lakewood Playhouse, 5729 Lakewood Towne Center Blvd. S.W., Lakewood
The Lakewood Playhouse is having a party to announce and preview its upcoming 81st season of shows. Doors open, and silent auction begins, at 6 p.m. on Feb. 10 and the preview party kicks into high gear at 6:30 p.m. Lakewood Playhouse will announce the six shows, and two bonus shows, of its 81st season.
The evening features prizes and two songs from next season’s musicals performed by an all-star lineup of returning cast members from LP’s past hit musicals, “Pirates of Penzance,” “Avenue Q,” “The Rocky Horror Show,” “Oliver,” “American Idiot” and “Forbidden Broadway.”
This celebration will also serve as the third annual fundraiser for Lakewood Playhouse. A special gathering with wine, phenomenal silent auction items and live auction items such as VIP tickets to the Rainiers with refreshments and a tour of the field; a rare signed edition of the world-famous comic “The Walking Dead” by Robert Kirkman; outstanding VIP tickets to “West Side Story” at the 5th Avenue Theatre; a walk on role in next season’s LiT Spotlight Show and a main stage show and much more.
There will also be another 50/50 raffle.  Last year’s winner won more than $500.
This year’s Playhouse Preview Party will once again have light appetizers provided by Carr’s Restaurant and Catering.
All proceeds from ticket sales will go to benefit the Lakewood Playhouse Annual Fund, which goes to keep costs down at the Theatre.  The theme for this year’s fundraiser is “Build to the Future” because LP will also be raising funds to help upgrade the dressing rooms for three planned phases of expansion for the playhouse.
Tickets: $25 (includes appetizers and apple cider), $50 (includes appetizers, apple cider and a glass of wine for adults), $75 (includes appetizers, apple cider and two glasses of wine for adults) and a limited number of VIP tables, which seat six each and a special surprise, light appetizers and two bottles of wine.

The Lakewood Playhouse was founded in 1938 and has established itself with theatre that is both intimate and epic.
