Tacoma Refugee Choir will begin its 2018-19 season Tuesday, Sept. 11, a day that for many citizens represents the opportunity to choose unity or division, at Lighthouse Activity Center (located at 5016 A St., Tacoma) from 7-8:30 p.m. Tacoma Refugee Choir, founded in 2016, is a nonprofit music ensemble committed to the mission of building a more welcoming community through song. By creating opportunities for people to come together through music, TRC strives to create a welcoming, supportive network of refugees, immigrants and allies in Tacoma and surrounding communities.
As part of the Sept. 11 kickoff program, TRC will be holding a unity pledge; a symbol of solidarity and community bonding and as a non-partisan organization open to a variety of ideas and affiliations, the choir invites members of the community to join it for an evening of togetherness and music. The following Tuesday, Sept. 18, TRC will be holding an open rehearsal at Lighthouse Activity Center with a potluck and speaker from the Commission for Immigrant and Refugee Affairs starting at 6 p.m. with rehearsal resuming at its regular 7 p.m. start time.
No musical experience is required to join in the fun, please join TRC for the kickoff to the 2018-19 season and raise your voice for our community. All are welcome. For more information, visit TRC’s website at www.refugeechoir.org, email firstname.lastname@example.org, or call/text (253) 881-SING.
