On Monday, July 24, Sheriff Paul Pastor announced several promotions and an administrative re-organization due to the recent retirement of Undersheriff Rob Masko.
Chief Brent Bomkamp will be promoted from chief of services to undersheriff. Bomkamp has extensive leadership experience in the department and his years of experience in other ranks within the department, as well as his successful work as chief of services, will assist him in his new role.
Chief Nick Hausner will be assigned as the new chief of services position after serving for two years as chief of operations. Lieutenant Jim Heishman will be promoted to chief of operations. Chief Patti Jackson-Kidder will remain in place as chief of corrections.
The sheriff also announced both a reconfiguration of Julie Williams’ position from policy/outreach and contract manager to the non-sworn position of chief of staff and the promotion of Pam Lacipierre from office assistant to executive assistant to the sheriff.
These organizational changes and promotions were made in an effort to further streamline service delivery as the agency begins to grow in order to catch up with increases in population and demand. These changes will take place with no increase in personnel. They are consistent with the recommendations in an organizational and staffing study being conducted in the department.
These promotions and organizational changes will be effective Monday, July 31.
“I look forward to working with these newly appointed people and this new organizational approach,” Pastor said. “We have a lot of work to do to meet increasing demands for services in a rapidly growing county. We look forward to working with the public, the County Council and the county executive in growing the department. I intend to make more changes to improve the quantity and quality of Sheriff’s Department services.”
