Abes win district; Rams take 4th

With their Dec. 1 thumping by Federal Way fresh in their minds, the Lincoln Abes set out to issue payback – and they did. With a furious rally in the fourth quarter, Lincoln beat the Eagles 59-56 to win the West Central District title last weekend at ShoWare Center in Kent. Carlos Anderson’s lay-in and subsequent three-point play with 1.3 seconds left was the final trick in a magical Lincoln rally, as they came back from 21 points down to start the fourth quarter. During a timeout early in the game, Kentlake High School’s 21-piece brass ensemble is raising the roof with its rendition of “Jailhouse Rock.” But the blaring of trombones, saxophones, trumpets and the crunching and crashing of drums, cymbals, tambourines and cowbell cannot muffle the booming voice of Bellarmine coach Kevin Meines, who can be heard 10 rows behind the team bench, bellowing his concern to his players.
