BIG TIME. Jordan Jennings makes save in his appearance with the Sounders.
Coming into the final week of the USL Premier Development League’s regular season, the Northwest Division playoff picture is coming down to whether the second-place Kitsap Pumas can win one of its last two games to edge out the Tacoma Tide.
Tacoma (9-3-3) played to a 1-1 draw against the Washington Crossfire last weekend, and Kitsap fell to the Portland Timbers, 1-0. Kitsap plays Vancouver this week, before its final game this weekend against Tacoma. If Kitsap defeats Vancouver they will clinch the playoff spot. If the Pumas fail to win that game, the winner of the season finale with the Tide on July 24 at Curtis High School will get the spot.
The Portland Timbers U23 finished the regular season with a perfect 16-0 record.
Former Stadium High School goalkeeper and current Tide member Jordan Jennings got his chance to live his dream, working in the goal with the Sounders. Just one day after the Tide’s game with the Crossfire, Jennings found himself on the biggest stage against one of the most famous clubs in the world, Celtic, after an injury to Kasey Keller and a red card to Terry Boss left the team leaning on him. The Tide’s all-time leader in goalkeeper saves, shutouts and minutes ended up shining for 60 minutes for the Sounders FC in front of 45,000 fans. He was given the game ball afterward by the team.
